(25 Mar 2019) CHINA FASHION WEEK KICKS OFF IN BEIJING WITH YOUNG FASHION DESIGNERS CONTEST
China fashion week started Monday (25 MARCH 2019) in Beijing with the International
Young Fashion Designers Contest.
Works from 25 young designers, including local and international, were shown to the audience and judges.
24-year-old designer Zhao Rui, a student from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, was honored with the Hempel Award Golden Prize.
Zhao said he was surprised about winning but thought his work was “more interesting” than the others.
“Some of my clothes can turn into backpacks, using the method of deconstruction to achieve secondary design,” he added.
China Fashion Week was established in 1997. It’s held twice a year in Beijing, with the Fall/Winter Collection in March and Spring/Summer in October.
The event consists of fashion shows, professional contests, an exhibition and fashion forum.
